KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign direct investment (FDI) worth RM392.9bil has been approved in the manufacturing and services sector under the Malaysian Investment Development Authority between 2018 to 2021, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong said that of the total approved FDI, RM300.5bil worth of investment, or 76.5%, has been successfully realised.
According to Liew, the bulk of approved FDIs consists of RM350.6bil in the manufacturing sector between 2018 and 2021, where RM266.9bil or 76.1 percent has been realised. “Usually, project implementation takes one to two years to be realised, depending on the scale of the project and current economic situation,” said Liew.
