RM300 Fine for Bus Drivers Caught Spitting During Chinese New Year Operations

The Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be imposing a RM300 fine on bus drivers caught spitting while driving during their special Chinese New Year operations. JPJ director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan stated that such behaviour is not only disgusting but also a safety concern as it diverts drivers' attention from the road. The department will also deploy plainclothes officers as undercover passengers to monitor compliance with road rules. In a separate operation, 21 motorcycles were seized for various offences, including lack of road tax and insurance.

IPOH: There will be a RM300 consequence for bus drivers caught spitting while driving, especially during the Perak Road Transport Department’s special Chinese New Year operations.

“Bus drivers caught spitting can be fined RM300 under Rule 52 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959,” he told reporters during a special motorcycle operation held in conjunction with Chinese New Year on Jalan Tambun here on Tuesday ."We will also deploy plainclothes officers as undercover passengers to monitor bus drivers’ compliance with road rules.

“For me, this is an example of irresponsibility by the vehicle owner. The motorcycle also did not have side mirrors,” he added.
