Kaizer Chiefs Football Club mourned one of their star players Luke Fleurs. The team recently held a prayer session in memory of the late star.
Luke Fleurs, the new Kaizer Chief player who joined the team in October last year passed away on Wednesday. He died following a botched hijacking that took place at a petrol station on 14th Avenue in Honeydew in Johannesburg,
The Kaizer Chiefs team has since held a prayer session in memory of the late soccer player. Pictures of the team along with some of its staff members were posted on social media. Social media users have since taken to the comment section to mourn with the team. “A moment of silence and a prayer session was held at the Kaizer Chiefs Village yesterday afternoon in remembrance of the late Kaizer Chiefs player, Luke Fleurs. Rest in peace, Luke,” the team wrote on their Instagram feed., Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo has revealed that the late soccer player was driving a red VW Golf 8 GTI when he was hijacked.
“While waiting to be served by the petrol attendant, he was confronted by two armed males who came driving a white BMW 1 Series… One suspect drove off with the victim’s car followed by his accomplice,” Masondo was quoted as saying.has recently reported that the police are still searching for the suspects who hijacked and killed Luke Fleurs that night.has also reported that a special team of detectives was assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the soccer star’s death.
Meanwhile, in another statement, South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan said: “This is such a huge loss for his family, friends, teammates and football in general. We woke up to the heartbreaking and devastating news of the passing of this young life. We are all grieving this young man’s passing.”
