The ringgit weakened against the US dollar due to the strengthening of the greenback following higher-than-expected US nonfarm payroll data.
KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended lower against the US dollar as the greenback strengthened following higher-than-expected US nonfarm payroll data, said an analyst.
He said March’s NFP rose unexpectedly to 303,000, surpassing economists forecast of 200,000 jobs, according to US Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics last Friday. "In the process, the ringgit has depreciated by 0.20 per cent against the US dollar to RM4.7572 as the big in interest rate differentials is here to stay for a little longer,” he told Bernama.
