Right to disconnect a ‘perfect sign’ of Australia’s decline: Andrew Bolt

Sky News host Andrew Bolt warns the new IR reforms, including the right to disconnect, are a “perfect sign” of Australia’s decline as it highlights the “something for nothing culture”.

The right to disconnect was moved through the Senate on Thursday after months of pushback from crossbenchers. Under the law, workers will obtain the legal right to ignore phone calls and emails made by their employers out of working hours, with the company able to be penalised if contact is deemed"unreasonable" and initiated on unpaid time.

“That this could happen in a country that used to pride itself on hard work, that was a thing of amazement in senate hearings today,” Mr Bolt said. “This is something I once expected when I was flying around in Ethiopia or China, but here in Australia today?”
