Blade Runner's Scott nearly changed film history.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Blade Runner defined an era of science fiction after it brought Philip K Dick’s expansive cyberpunk vision to life on screen in 1982, establishing Ridley Scott as a master of the genre and boosting Harrison Ford's noir credentials. However, the Alien director almost turned down the dystopia, only taking it on after ditching his plans for creating another sci-fi movie which is famous for much less impressive reasons.
Scott, though, told Total Film that the movie had actually “always been filmable,” and the director had even found a “f***ing good” script before he abandoned the project. He revealed that he was put off from directing the movie as he would have had to film in Mexico rather than in the US, which he told producer Dino De Laurentiis would be a “hardship.”
