Rick and Morty has established that Rick is essentially a god who can defeat actual deities, but the series names the one god even Rick can't beat.
Rick and Morty fans are well aware that Rick is essentially a god. Not only is he referred to as a god on numerous occasions, but he also has the ability to kill them, seemingly without too much trouble. However, in the latest Rick and Morty storyline, the series introduces a god that even Rick can’t beat.
The only time Rick and Morty explicitly shows Rick having any sort of conflict with a god was in season 4, episode 9, where Rick literally goes toe-to-toe with Zeus–or, at least a Zeus. Using his impossibly high-tech gadgets, Rick is able to hold his own in a fist fight with a cosmic deity. While he gets his butt kicked, he does end up coming out on top with the help of Morty and Summer before getting all the credit/blame for killing this god.

Meanwhile, Rick is trying to rid himself and his family of these entities of cosmic horror for good, which leads to an epic face-off between Rick and Cthulhu itself.
When Rick faces off with Azathoth, he basically gives up right away and admits defeat. Sure, he throws a few insults in the face of this living black hole of chaos, but he doesn’t even attempt combat. This is a sobering moment for Rick as a character, and a shocking one for Rick and Morty fans. Rick literally manufactured his own multiverse through the Central Finite Curve, outwitted ‘Hellraiser’ demons from hell, and fought Zeus in outer space–which resulted in Zeus' death.
Rick is the smartest man in the universe, which usually means that he can come up with some way to defeat literal gods. In this case, however, Rick was just smart enough to know he didn’t stand a chance–thereby confirming the one god even Rick and Morty’s Rick can’t beat.
