As thanks for saving the man, the 20-year-old was given a 2009 Audi A8 so he can commute to his job. His usual route meant taking a train and two buses.

Former Richards High School student Anthony Perry is credited with saving a life when he pulled a man of the electrified rail of a Red Line train track.

But the Richards High School graduate had a change of heart when one of the combatants ended up lying prone on the tracks with his hand stuck under a rail.Perry, 20, jumped down, tried to avoid that deadly third rail, pulled the man to safety and administered CPR.“I saw him getting electrocuted,” Perry said. “My first thought was to keep walking because they were fighting. But I saw the man was dying and I couldn’t leave him down there. So, I took action and did what God wanted me to do.

“He was the student you can’t forget because he was always stopping in the hallways to say good morning, hello, how’s your day going, how is the family and your boys,’' said business teacher James Soderstrom. “He was a genuine person who wasn’t just being polite but rather really wanted to know the answers.”

“He was a wonderful example of a leader in the classroom, in band rehearsals and on the football field,” Fansler said. “He was a fantastic member of our community while he was in high school, and is clearly still a fantastic and caring community member today.”
