KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown 's defamatory statements about the Terengganu Sultanah in her book on 1Malaysia Development Bhd were disrespectful to the royal institution in this country, the court said.
“After considering the testimonies provided by the prosecution witnesses, the court is convinced that the slanderous remarks directed at the Sultanah of Terengganu constitute defamation that could tarnish her reputation and good name. “This indirectly tarnishes the reputation of the Sultanah of Terengganu in the country's largest scandal," Magistrate Nik Mohd Tarmizie said in the written judgment.
