MELAKA: The gangland-style murder of a youth at Hospital Jasin here could have been fuelled by revenge, say Melaka police.
Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Jamil Radzi said preliminary investigations indicated that an earlier fray led to the brutal murder on Sunday. “We are still probing whether there is possible involvement of triads in the hacking of the 24- year-old man,” he said yesterday.DSP Ahmad Jamil said four suspects, aged between 20 and 35, have been detained in connection with the murder and more suspects are being tracked down.It was reported that the victim was brutally murdered at the entrance of Hospital Jasin, with medical staff and patients witnessing the horrific attack.
It is believed that he was first attacked by a group of masked men armed with machetes at a barber shop in Taman Rim Baru here at about 8.40pm on Sunday. However, upon arriving at the emergency unit of the hospital, the assailants were not far behind and attacked the victim and smashed the windscreen of the car driven by his brother.
