AMPANG: The memories of working in Ampang for 22 years are still fresh for retired policeman Mohd Nasir Che Soh.
One of the most memorable moments for Mohd Nasir, who retired as a sub-inspector, was when the communist threat was still prevalent in the country. "I reported for duty at the Ampang police headquarters in 1983, during the height of the communist threat.
"I remembered that security was high, as even the Ampang police station's gate was higher than its roof," he said when met at the reunion of former Ampang/Ampang Jaya police officers and personnel on Saturday . Mohd Nasir remembered that his superiors would always remind the personnel to patrol in groups given the communist threat. "During that time, I remembered a communist weapon cache was discovered at a vegetable farm, now known as Taman Kosas. "Working in Ampang was truly special as the camaraderie built among my brothers and sisters in arms would last forever," he said. Mohd Nasir served in Ampang from 1983 to 2005 before transferring to the Seremban district police headquarters, where he eventually retired in 2020.Meanwhile, the event's organising committee chairman Datuk Alias Abd Rahman said such events were important to foster closer ties between those who served in Ampang Jaya."We cherish the reunion as it reminds us that our bond is unbreakable," he said."We tracked down former policemen and policewomen who once worked in Ampang.to our Premium Plan for an ad-free and unlimited reading experience!
