SLS also fully supports the call by Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir for the appointment of the four members of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) to be made by SLS, Advocates Association of Sarawak, Bar Council and the Parliament Committee of Selection instead of by the Prime Minister.
“However, SLS reiterate its call for the return of the eroded authority and rights of Sabah and Sarawak by restoring the power of the respective governors to appoint judicial commissioners provided for in the Federal Constitution prior to 1994.“The amendment to Article 122 included the introduction of five new Articles of 122A, 122AA, 122AB, 122B, and 122C under Part IX of the Constitution and which was passed in 1994.
