A RESTAURANT in Tamil Nadu, India, marked World Briyani Day by selling the meal to healthcare workers for a mere one rupee (five sen).
reported that the restaurant in Trichy city last Sunday launched the promotion on social media for all healthcare workers.
The restaurant said that it wanted to show its appreciation to the frontliners for their hard work in combating the Covid-19 contagion. It also sold briyani dishes for 10 paise to customers who turned up with the coins which were demonetised in 2011. The promotion was well received with many customers, who had held on to the now valueless coins, lining up at the restaurant.
