Kenilworth Square residents believe Dublin City Council should not have ruled artificial grass change as exempt

A proposed pitch under St Mary's plan for Kenilworth Square: Campaign group Protect Kenilworth Square and local resident Martin Joyce were on Monday granted leave by the High Court to continue their case seeking an order overturning the council’s decision. Image: projectkenilworth.

Mr Justice Richard Humphreys queried whether there might be any request for the case to be passed to a judge who has no connection to the area. He said there could be difficulty finding such a judge, as “Rathmines seems to be almost ground zero for the legal profession.”Man arrested in Kildare in connection with 1995 murder of Jo Jo Dullard

Tom Flynn, the senior counsel instructed by FP Logue solicitors for the residents’ group, said he did not see any need to seek out a different judge. They allege there is a more extensive plan that includes installation of floodlighting, the construction of a large new pavilion, vehicular entrance and a car park. They claim this full proposal will see eight mature trees replaced by 74 new trees.
