Some residents believe the drainage system is not maintained.
Some residents off Bellingrath Road are blaming the drainage system not working properly, and some say the damage to their homes will be costly to fix.
“You couldn’t see the grass in the backyard,” he added. “I’ve never seen this much rain. You would think it was a hurricane.”He believes the problem was caused by the drains along Clyde Drive as he says they’re often clogged and neglected. Commissioner Randall Dueitt says Monday’s amount of rain was rare and that the ditches are sufficient and maintained.
Like Walker, Pruett is trying to clean up the mess left behind from the flooding. She says flooding is a constant problem in the area, even if it’s not of this magnitude.
