Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of two individuals in separate incidents.

The command's Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, said on Thursday, in a press statement, that the police received a distress call from Gwallameji that a group of hunters, led by Saidu Musa, 49, armed with machetes and guns, were in the area to apprehend an unidentified person following a complaint by Ibrahim Lado, a resident of Hajiya Amina Lodge, Gwallameji. Mistaking the hunters for armed robbers, the residents responded forcefully, overpowering and injuring them.

Also, three of their motorcycles were burnt,” Wakil said. Wakil stated that in a related incident, the police reported a reprisal attack by a rival group of hoodlums known as 'Yan Tokara' on Tuesday, June 2. The attack led to the death of Rabiu Shehu, 21, also known as Rambo, a resident of Muda Lawal, Bauchi. Shehu was reportedly attacked and stabbed in the stomach and neck by an unknown person suspected to be a member of the rival group in the Bakin Kura area.
