The Kapuso classrooms are now being utilized not only for educating children but also for providing temporary shelter for families affected by calamities.
Amid Mayon Volcano's unrest, evacuees from Camalig, Albay took shelter in Bariw Elementary School, which received classrooms from the GMA Kapuso Foundation back in 2007.
"Well-ventilated tapos mayroon siyang mga CRs na talaga naman magagamit ng mga evacuees," school principal Leo Ontañez said. "'Yung mga magulang ko nasa baba nag-evacuate na, andoon kami sa palayan, nagha-harvest kami ng palay. Tapos may abiso na sa amin na patay na 'yung magulang ko," he said.
