Former Texas Republican repmayraflores is preparing to reclaim her House seat following her loss in 2022. Flores became the first Mexican-born woman in the House when she won a special election, but lost five months later a Democratic candidate.

Though she lost by 8.5 percentage points, the National Republican Congressional Committee commissioned a poll that showed her chances of taking back the seat greatly improved. The NRCC is looking to have her run again, but Flores herself is still undecided.
The NRCC poll found that Flores is slightly ahead of Gonzalez, at 42.4% to the incumbent's 41.7%. She fares much better among independents, 50.2% compared to Gonzalez's 30.8%. Flores also holds an advantage in terms of favorability: 43% of likely election voters view her favorably, compared to just 29% who view Gonzalez favorably.
Democrats claimed the poll was"dubious," and touted the 2022 election results as assurance that Flores would lose in a rematch.
