Heimir Hallgrimsson will name his first squad as Republic of Ireland manager on Thursday for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
The former Iceland boss stated last week that John O’Shea and Paddy McCarthy will have a huge say on the squad and there aren't expected to be many changes to the panel that was named for June's friendlies with Hungary and Portugal. “This selection of the squad will probably be more or less based on their opinion, because there are three or four games maximum that the players have played in the league and you can’t jump in and say, ah, you played really good yesterday, you should be in the Irish squad.
“They have been in the last four matches and the changes I saw in those games, I thought they were good, kind of in the right direction, I would say, in my opinion.
