An ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives on the restructuring of government agencies and commissions has called on
the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Sen. George Akume, to shed light on the decision to implement the Dr Steve Oronsaye report.
Faulting the notion that the National Assembly is being influenced to halt the decision to scrap or merge some agencies of government, he maintained that the exercise being embarked upon is in tandem with the quest to strengthen the functions of the MDAs. “So if that is the standard practice or position of the law, there is no point in anybody trying to lobby anyone because whatever we do will still be subjected to the concurrence of the Senate. So there is no shortcut. There is no point in insinuating that anyone would be going behind to lobby anyone.
