Moments before he was shot and killed, President John F. Kennedy rode with his wife, Jacqueline, and Texas Gov. John Connally and his wife, Nellie, through the streets of Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. Former Dallas Times Herald reporter Darwin Payne will talk about his experiences covering the assassination on Nov. 2 at the Allen Public Library.On Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. After earning a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, Payne taught journalism at Southern Methodist University for three decades. He has written numerous books, includingabout the woman who swore in Lyndon Baines Johnson as president after Kennedy’s death.
