The number of reported fireworks-related injuries from December 21, 2022 to January 3, 2023 has climbed to 262, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday.

The Health Department said at least 51 fireworks-related injuries were recorded from January 2 to 3 in at least 61 DOH sentinel hospitals.The top fireworks involved were kwitis, boga, 5-star, and fountain, according to the DOH.

The DOH also reminded the public to avoid picking up with their own hands the remaining used firecrackers along the road.Those who are injured due to firecrackers must go to the nearest health facility for immediate proper treatment, the DOH added.
