After a meeting with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadow on Tuesday, GOP senators told thethat administration officials were warming to the idea of including $25 billion in state aid for testing and contact tracing and funding for the CDC. The Trump administration had initially sought to block funding because some officials believed money approved for testing had been unspent.
GOP senators will unveil their plan in the coming days as Congress attempts to come together on a fifth coronavirus stimulus package with just 10 days to act before lawmakers break for August recess.
