A new report on sexual assault cases in King County says victims are waiting far too long for justice, with some victims waiting years for a resolution.

Since 2021, KCSARC has been tracking hundreds of sexual assault cases and their outcomes, finding the majority of those cases result in the accused getting a plea deal for a lesser charge.Is the King County prosecutor's Juvenile Division doing enough to pursue sexual assault cases? “When we're not involving the victim's voice in this when we're not taking their input into this, they do feel validated,” Krug said.
“The cases that we resolve, we resolve because we feel that that is the right thing for the case, primarily due to evidentiary concerns,” Oerimi said. “Sometimes it is because it is the best thing for that victim, and the defendant is willing to take accountability in that measure, and when those two things align, we offer those opportunities.”
