Chase Claypool was dealt with a seventh-round pick to Miami for a sixth-round pick according to NFL Network.
The Bears traded him to a team where his talents aren't necessary but can greatly complement players who they currently have. He'll play with Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins, according to a report by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Claypool made 18 catches for 191 yards and a TD in 10 Bears games. He fought with defensive teammates at practice and managed to get numerous Bears fans angry at GM Ryan Poles, who gave up a second-round pick to acquire him.
Last year the Bears had outbid the Packers to get him, it was well known. The Packers and Bears offered a second-round pick, but the Bears had the higher pick to offer. The Bears sent a seventh-round pick to Miami with Claypool for a Dolphins sixth-round pick. This pending a physical, which can matter considering how often Claypool missed work in Chicago and was said to be injured. The Bears will rely then on rookie Tyler Scott, second-year receiver Velus Jones Jr. and veteran Equanimeous St. Brown to fill the void.
Clahypool's blocking and effort had been called into question after the season-opening loss to Green Bay. Then he was told not to come to practice or the last two games and it was obvious the Bears planned to either cut him or trade him. When Tuesday passed last week and he still was with the team, it had become obvious they were trying to make a deal because they had to keep paying him last week at that point.
