DOTHAN, Ala. - Uncertainty has loomed over Fort Novosel since rumors sparked on social media of Fort Novosel and the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence would have $130 million in funding cut.
“The rumor was they were going to divert some of those funds over to Ukraine,” said Representative Barry Moore .Rep. Moore reached out to the Secretary of Defense for answers. “We didn’t want to see our military soldiers and our training in America put behind the needs of a foreign country,” said Rep. Moore.Rep. Moore said he recently met with Army General Officers who were able to squash the rumors, saying no funding is being pulled and no programs are being disrupted.
“They’re investigating the rumor now, but at the same time, it was our job to make sure that we didn’t put a halt on funding,” said Rep. Moore. “We want to make sure that local military there and the region, the Wiregrass, will continue to train and be ready for the mission, whatever that mission may be.”and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
