Remy Bumppo Theatre Company recently announced its 2022-23 season featuring three plays. The company said the season aims to highlight the “resilience of the human spirit, our need for creative self-expression and the never-ending desire for emotional connection.”: The season opens with the American premiere of Rachel De-lahay’s play, which tells the story of immigrants, refugees and children who are in conflict with the law as they try to return home.
: Next up is the first major revival in Chicago of Nilo Cruz’s classic in 20 years. The story takes place at a Cuban American cigar factory in 1929, where a reading of “Anna Karenina” helps the workers’ true desires come to light. The show is directed by Laura Alcalá Baker and features core ensemble member Charín Álvarez.: The season ends with the world premiere of Bill Cain’s tribute to Shakespeare.
