Remove terror content within an hour, EU tells internet firms
A proposal passed in the European Parliament yesterday states that once platforms that host user-uploaded content, such as YouTube, get instructions from the authorities, they have an hour to remove terrorism-related material or disable access to it in EU states. – EPA pic, April 18, 2019.
INTERNET companies should remove terrorism-related content within an hour of receiving authorities’ orders, said a proposal approved in the European Parliament yesterday, reported the Xinhua news agency. Once a platform that hosts user-uploaded content, such as Facebook and YouTube, gets such instructions, it has an hour to remove the material in question or disable access to it in European Union states, said the proposal.
