He spent the next 33 years anchoring more than 18,000 hours of newscasts - a record that almost wasn’t when a rumor leaked in the mid 80′s that the station might not renew Scott’s contract; news that was met with a flood of angry letters and calls from viewers.
Most of Scott’s hours at the anchor desk were spent seated next to Janet Hall. “Those years working with Scott - they were great, they were great,” Hall remembered Friday. “We wouldn’t miss that,” Hall said. “We wanted to be a part of any disaster or anything the community was going through, that was our job.”
