Remastered Oldboy hits local cinemas on 16th August

Next month the original Korean neo-noir action film Oldboy will land in local cinemas.

It will be screening at a handful of Ster-Kinekor cinemas across the country, as well as two independent movie houses.When it comes to cult classic action films of the past couple of decades, few can come close to theOldboy. For South African fans of the film, it is set to screen in local cinemas as part of a 20th anniversary come 16th August.

“South Africa will release the fully restored and remastered version of the film, now available, 4K simultaneously with the rest of the world on 16 August 2023,” a press release sent to Hypertext confirmed. In terms of the actual release, the number of cinemas that will be screening Oldboy is rather limited. To that end, a handful of Ster-Kinekor locations have been earmarked for next month, along with two independent operators.
