PETALING JAYA: A Cabinet minister from Perikatan Nasional has dismissed talk that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to resign on Saturday (Aug 14) after having an emergency meeting with other ministers and deputy ministers.
said rumours that Muhyiddin had signed a resignation letter that had been circulating since Saturday afternoon were false and speculative in nature.
In a report by Sinar Harian, he said the Prime Minister had never ordered the Cabinet to attend an emergency meeting on Saturday evening. Instead, Mohd Redzuan, as a Bersatu supreme council member, only received the invitation to attend the party meeting at 9am on Sunday .“Claims of the emergency Cabinet meeting this evening are also not true because I am still at home with my family.
“From what I know, the invitation notice to attend the Bersatu supreme council meeting to be held tomorrow morning is the only one I received,” he said in the report on Saturday. Mohd Redzuan said should Muhyiddin really want to resign, he would need to inform such a decision in a party meeting first, before proceeding with discussions on the matter in a Cabinet meeting.
