The Human Resources Ministry , acting through the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), has achieved a record-breaking levy collection , according to Steven Sim, the Minister of Human Resources. HRD Corp surpassed its previous high mark, reaching RM2.3 billion in 2024 compared to RM2.1 billion in 2023. Sim emphasized that the ministry's mission extends beyond mere levy collection . The goal is to ensure the efficient and comprehensive utilization of these funds.
He articulated this commitment during his address at the joint Chinese New Year open house hosted by HRD Corp and the Human Resources Ministry at SJK (C) Sin Ming Puchong on Sunday, February 9th. The event was graced by notable attendees, including Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof, HRD Corp chairman Datuk Abu Huraira Abu Yazid, and China's Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing.Looking ahead, the Ministry aims to enhance business efficiency, including expediting grant approvals. Sim highlighted the ministry's Reengineering Policy, which aims to reduce the processing time for levy claims from employers from one week to a mere hour. Similarly, the target for processing applications from training providers will be reduced from seven days to three days. Sim stressed that these aspirations align with the vision of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and are being actively pursued under his administration. He underscored that all agencies and departments within the Human Resources Ministry, including HRD Corp, have implemented management reforms to deliver exceptional services to their stakeholders.Approximately 1,000 participants attended the Chinese New Year open house, comprising HRD Corp's stakeholders such as employer groups, industry associations, trainers, training providers, and the general public. A key highlight of the event was HRD Corp's presentation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions to 20 organizations and NGOs. Guests were treated to a variety of performances, including a lively lion dance, and enjoyed an array of delectable treats. The event also featured engaging activities like Chinese calligraphy, lantern-making, and Chinese Knot Art workshops.
