Much of the U.S. economy is paralyzed as the country struggles to contain the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. As some parts of the economy are beginning to reopen, many businesses are cutting jobs and roughly 20 million Americans remain unemployed, while large swaths of American workers are struggling to get back on their feet. The job losses have disproportionately hurt women, minorities and less-educated workers.
