The 'Jackass' star, who was wanted for assaulting his brother, has struggled for years with alcoholism and mental health issues.
Margera, a West Chester resident, turned himself in at the Pennsylvania State Police’s Avondale barracks on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment, Trooper James Grothey confirmed. He was fingerprinted, photographed and arraigned, and bail was set at $50,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25 at the Chester County Court of Common Pleas, Grothey said. In court documents, state police said Margera got into a physical fight with another man inside his home on the 400 block of Hickory Hill Road in Pocopson Township. That man was later identified as Margera’s brother.
Margera punched his brother in the face and said, “I’ll kill you. I’ll put a bullet in your head,” while also threatening to kill everyone in the home, according to an affidavit of probable cause.Margera’s mother April Margera earlier this week that her son had dealt with years of alcohol abuse and mental health issues. He’d been living in Florida and California and only recently returned to Chester County, she said.Margera rose to fame with the CKY skating video series and his appearances on MTV’s “Jackass.” His appearances with the Jackass series eventually led to a spinoff reality series, “Viva la Bam,” which was largely filmed in and around his hometown of West Chester.
