RCMP have identified the victim as James Barbaric, 37, of North Battleford, who had been treated for injuries from an assault the day before.
Police say they had started an investigation into an assault reported against him the night before. Officers were called to the 1100 block of 102nd Street in North Battleford for a reported assault around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
