Rassie Erasmus has explained why Hacjivah Dayimani was among the unlucky few to miss out on the recent 43-player Springbok alignment camp in Cape Town.

Dayimani has been a standout at No 8 and blindside flank for the DHL Stormers this season, with many predicting that a maiden call from the Springboks could be around the corner.

Speaking to the media in Cape Town, Bok coach Erasmus explained why Dayimani at this stage does not fit into his plans.“When we looked at his roadmap, and I am not talking specifically about him, I am talking about other loose forwards competing with other loose forwards and how many battles you get into and how many battles you win.

“We look at your workrate and your understanding. When you make a tackle, do you dominate that tackle?” “If Cheslin was just stepping guys, we would never pick Cheslin. But Cheslin is tackling guys, he is stealing balls, he is going up for the high ball, so he is a complete player,” he said.
