had an extremely productive campaign in 2022. Torrence recorded 87 tackles, three interceptions, and 3.5 tackles for loss. Torrence enters the 2023 NFL Draft following a career-best season.
Rashad Torrence II: I really feel like I’ve always elevated my preparation level in-between seasons. I feel like the way I approach the game itself leads to me having on-field success. I always put my teammates first. I placed my trust in them and they placed their trust in me. They leaned on me to make plays. I increased my production to a desired level.
JM: Your play recognition really shined when you lined up back there. You determine if it’s pass or run and track the football, which led to three interceptions this past season. You made a ton of plays. How did you develop that aspect of your game? Rashad Torrence II: I’ve always embraced the physical contact that comes with tackling. I love imposing my will on my opponents. I take out all of the aggression that we’re not allowed to take out at practice . Of course, we have to prioritize our health at practice. I just love football. I’ve always loved that physical contact. I’m able to do that in the run game without consequences or repercussions. I love and enjoy tackling.
JM: Say it’s 3rd-and-long and an obvious passing down. Would you prefer to be manned up, or playing zone with a chance to make a play on the ball near the sticks? Rashad Torrence II: That’s a tough question. There are so many great safeties in the league. I’d probably go with Jamal Adams. His versatility always shines through. I respect the way he plays the game. He has the capability to impact every single play. He makes plays as they develop. He reads the game at such a high level. He does that so efficiently. I’d love to pick his brain and watch him break down plays.
