Texas Rangers relief pitcher Grant Anderson throws against the Cleveland Guardians at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, July 15, 2023.ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers optioned right-handed relief pitcher Grant Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, and in a corresponding move, recalled righthander Yerry Rodriguez.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Anderson’s demotion isn’t performance related, but rather it’s to get the 26-year-old some rest and bring a fresh arm into the Texas bullpen. Anderson threw 51 pitches“We needed another arm here,” Bochy said. “We think he could use a break, had to use him a lot last night because wanted to at least keep a fresh arm here for tomorrow — that’s [Glenn] Otto — [and we] brought Yerry up to help out so we don’t overuse these guys.
