ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers’ league-leading offense now has more reinforcements. The Rangers activated catcher Mitch Garver from the injured list on Friday...
Garver, 32, hasn’t played for the Rangers since he tweaked his knee running the bases on April 9 against the Chicago Cubs.. The former Silver Slugger award-winner started in six of the Rangers’ first eight games and hit two home runs to begin the season before his injury. He played in six rehab games for Round Rock and hit 6 for 19 with two home runs and six walks.
Garver’s return provides added flexibility to Texas’ lineup, where he can play designated hitter and spell Jonah Heim at catcher.
