KUALA LUMPUR: Mahkamah Tinggi di sini hari ini memerintahkan bekas Timbalan Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang II, Dr P. Ramasamy membayar lebih RM1 juta kepada penceramah bebas, Dr. Zakir Naik berhubung lima kenyataan memfitnah.
Terdahulu, peguam Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader yang mewakili Zakir memberitahu mahkamah, anak guamnya tidak dapat hadir kerana berada di Nigeria untuk majlis ceramah sehingga 5 November ini.Pada Oktober dan Disember 2019, Zakir memfailkan saman berasingan mendakwa Ramasamy mengeluarkan lima kenyataan memfitnahnya.
Zakir yang bertaraf Penduduk Tetap berkata, Ramasamy memfitnahnya dalam satu lagi kenyataan disiarkan portal berita pada 1 Oktober 2017, dengan mendakwa Malaysia melindungi apa didakwanya sebagai pelarian dari India.
