President Cyril Ramaphosa says the PPE corruption which followed Covid 19 pandemic, the handling of the 2021 July unrest by law enforcement agencies and government’s lack of readiness in dealing with the floods in the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu-Natal were the worst blemishes for the ANC government since the 2019 elections.

He said: “What I’m not proud of is the corruption on PPE procurement. That depressed me. Had we not centralised the procurement of the vaccines we could have had a bigger problem. I was also not happy with how we handled the 2021 July unrest. That was devastating – our security forces were not prepared, and our government was also not prepared for the floods."
For nearly 30 years, the ANC-led government has been criticised for failing to deliver on basic services to many communities around the country. However, the party is now promising to turn things around and has set itself nine months to deliver on some of the key areas it was accused of failing to do.
Next year will be 30 years since the birth of our democracy. It should be an occasion for celebration as well as reflection, on the road we’ve travelled and obstacles faced and overcome since then. At the same time, we know that once we’ve reached one summit, many more lie ahead of us, on the journey to a truly united, non-racial, nonsexist and prosperous South Africa.
The party has committed of decisively deal with load shedding. Since the beginning of the blackouts, the ANC government has been heavily criticised for leading the country in darkness. This week, Eskom announced that it had ramped up the load shedding by implementing stage 4. The party has also made a commitment to transform the financial sector, including macro-economic policy proposals to be developed to support next year's election manifesto.
“[We should] urgently intervene to prevent the collapse of the SA Post Office and support the SABC. Ensure Parliament passes all outstanding bills by November - for example the National Health Insurance, pension reform, public procurement, the land expropriation and Post Office Bills,” reads the document.
