Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail met with Sheikh Arun Boonchom Muhammad Jalaluddin Hussin, the Minister of Religion or Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, at Masjid Kamalulislam in Bangkok. The meeting was part of the Ziarah Mahabbah program and aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between Perlis and Thailand.
Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail recently attended a meeting with the Minister of Religion or Sheikhul Islam of Thailand , Sheikh Arun Boonchom Muhammad Jalaluddin Hussin at Masjid Kamalulislam, Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok, Thailand . Raja Puan Muda Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, also joined the event and were welcomed by Imam and Chairman of the Bangkok Islamic Council, Sheikh Samai Charoenchang.
For the record, Arun Boonchom is the Chularatchamontri or Chula Rajamontri, the Head of Islamic Affairs and its adherents in Thailand, and acts as the Mufti or primary religious advisor to the Thai government, particularly to the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Culture. In a brief statement, the Islamic and Malay Customs Council of Perlis (MAIPs) stated that the meeting was part of the Ziarah Mahabbah program led by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin as the President of MAIPs in Bangkok and Ranong, Thailand. Meanwhile, Arun Boonchom, in his speech, said that the meeting could strengthen the bilateral relations between the state of Perlis and the Thai government. He said that most of the residents in the area around the mosque visited by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also have a historical connection, originating from Perlis and Kedah. “This will further strengthen the silaturahim and kinship between the local community and the delegation from Perlis,” he said. He added that the working visit also coincided with the philosophy of Ummatan Wahidah, which involves sharing and discussing in various fields, namely the progress of Islamic religion, economy, social and education, particularly opportunities for further studies at the International Islamic University Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UNISIRAJ) and culture for the benefit of the Muslim community,” he said. During the same event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also graciously performed the MAIPs contribution to Masjid Kamalulislam amounting to RM2,000 for religious activities and the mosque's beautification. Tuanku Lailaitul Shahreen also graciously performed the MAIPs contribution to 50 selected orphans.-UTUSA
