GEORGE TOWN: It’s raining regularly now – and that’s good news for vegetable sellers and their customers.

“If there is rain, it is good for us as there will be more crops, and prices will be reasonable,” said S. Samugaveloo, who runs a vegetable stall at the Batu Lanchang market.“My vegetables are sourced locally, from Bukit Mertajam, Kulim and Cameron Highlands.

Samugaveloo, who has been in the business for 35 years, said throughout the past few months, prices of vegetables kept changing based on supply. “It used to be controlled and cheaper, but for the past month, we have been buying it at RM8.80 per kg,” said Midah Yunus, who has been running a stall selling chicken at the market for seven years.

“I understand with prices increasing for almost everything, we need to be considerate and reduce where we can,” she said.“I do not think this is because of the price hike. It is probably because people are eating out more or maybe they are fed up with eating chicken.
