PETALING JAYA: Radhakrishnan sisters Kasturi and Venosha made their present felt in the Uganda Championships by winning the women’s doubles title.
The duo knocked out second seeds Martina Corsini-Judith Mair of Italy 21-18, 21-19 in the women’s doubles final of the International Challenge tournament in Kampala on Sunday.
The third seeds had earlier upstaged top seeds Katharina Fink-Yasmine Hamza of Italy 21-15, 21-17 in the semi-finals. Venosha could have made it a double but fell short in the mixed doubles with Senthil Vel Govindarasu of India when the duo went down 21-19, 18-21, 20-22 to Algeria’s Koceila Mammeri-Tanina Violette Mammeri in the final.
There was double joy for Malaysia when Boon Xin Yuan-Wong Tien Ci defeated Jones Ralfy Jansen-Jan Colin Volker of Germany 21-15, 21-14 for the men’s doubles title. Men’s singles: Arnaud Merkle bt Harshit Aggarwal 21-15 18-21 21-16. Men’s doubles: Boon Xin Yuan-Wong Tien Ci bt Jones Ralfy Jansen-Jan Colin Völker 21-15 21-14.
