Recently, a claim emerged that a kitten was rescued safely from a drainage pipe under the Second Penang Bridge.Yes, Fire and Rescue Department personnel had to rescue a kitten after it got itself stuck in a drainage pipe beneath the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge.
State Fire and Rescue Department Operations Deputy Director Khairy Sulaiman said the department received an emergency call from the public about the incident that occurred at about 3pm on Friday . "A team of nine rescuers from Bayan Baru fire station were sent to the location to rescue the kitten that fell into a water drainage pipe under the bridge," he said.He added that rescuers used rappelling techniques and specialised tools to cut the PVC pipe.The operation ended at about 4pm.
