“The current laws stigmatise sex workers. It increases vulnerability to exploitation and violence and fails to protect their human rights,” Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman told 7NEWS. Fentiman says the state government is working through 47 recommendations by the Queensland Law Reform Commission to overhaul sex works laws, but broadly supports the call to “bring sex work out of the dark” via decriminalisation.
