Petrol prices in Southeast Queensland have increased significantly, with some drivers having to pay a record 237.9c per litre. Experts are telling motorists there’s no point waiting to fill up with prices unlikely to drop anytime soon. The previous record of 229.9c per litre set in August last year was smashed by almost 10 cents on Tuesday with 21 per cent of petrol stations passing on that price hike in Brisbane. The petrol prices for unleaded in the Gold Coast aren’t as high, sitting at roughly 211.9c per litre. The Deputy Opposition Leader Susan Ley has slammed the Federal government saying household budgets are being squeezed at every possible angle under Anthony Albanese's leadership. “I seem to remember Anthony Albanese saying that petrol prices were far too high under a Coalition government; I think they’re about 30 to 50 cents higher now,” Ms Ley told Sky News Australia. “It is just one of the ingredients of cost of living that this government needs to focus on and all they seem to be focusing on is their project on the Voice.”

Albanese in many ways tries to follow the ‘Dan Andrews playbook’Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, in many ways, is trying to “follow the Dan Andrews playbook”. “Dan Andrews and Anthony Albanese were close mates, and I think Anthony Albanese, in many ways, is trying to follow the Dan Andrews playbook,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia. “I really worry for what that means for our nation, and I hope that Anthony Albanese will take a different track. “Because if he doesn’t, after Anthony Albanese finishes, we’ll be poorer as a nation and poorer as Australian people, and that’s not what we want as a nation, and especially at this time.” Mr Tehan’s remarks come after the Victorian Premier announced his resignation on Tuesday, which will take effect at 5pm on Wednesday.
