Quanell X and other Houston activists are calling the taqueria robbery shooting as...
Police were searching for a customer accused of shooting, killing attempted robber at taqueria in southwest Houston.Over a week after a Southwest Houston taqueria customer fatally shot a robbery suspect and the Harris County District Attorney's Office determined, community activists are calling for a criminal indictment for the customer.
"We are not condoning the actions or the behavior of the perpetrator who was robbing this restaurant, he was absolutely wrong for what he was doing and he deserved to go to prison for the robbery he was committing," said activist Quanell X."The 'good Samaritan' was within the law when he fired the first initial shots, but we believe he went from being a law-abiding citizen to a lawbreaker.
Police said the shooter collected stolen money from Washington's body and returned it to the customers who had been robbed. First responders pronounced Washington dead at the scene. "We cannot have a society where our citizens are judges, juries, and executioners," Quanell X said."He went too far. He had a right to defend himself... He had the right to use deadly force. But he went beyond that and he stood over that young man and pumped bullet after bullet into him. That's overkill. That's no longer self-defense.
