Fitzpatrick was deep behind enemy lines. And it didn’t pass unnoticed. After all, in the war that’s erupted since the government blocked Qatar’s bids for more flights into Australia’s major capitals at Qantas’ urging, Qatar’s PR response has involved flying hot air balloons across Canberra while being the first to ferry Australians home from IsraelA broader perusal of Fitzpatrick’sreveals him a regular customer of the embattled national carrier.
But access to the Chairman’s Lounge cannot be earned, or purchased. And Fitzpatrick – who also lobbies for Google, Sydney Airport and the Pharmacy Guild – assures us he isn’t a member. He was there as a guest of someone who is, hastening to add that this member isn’t a politician and that he was only in there “for 10 minutes”.
