Qantas is facing “record” fines for allegedly selling tickets for ghost flights; Warmest winter on record; Bowen cautions against blackout fears; new drug arrangements begin today
Energy minister Chris Bowen has pushed back on fears of blackouts saying the predictions are suggesting a small risk of power shortages.
His comments came as the Australian Energy Market Operator is banking on large-scale batteries and pumped hydro projects to help reduce the risks of rolling blackouts over the next decade on the East Coast. “While the ESOO central scenario demonstrates an increase in reliability risk, there are many schemes and developments that have the potential to address the identified risks,” it said.
